Learning through Art: Building Communities of Practice, Capability, and Connection across Cultures

At the heart of INTRACOMP lies a belief that art can bridge cultures, connect people, and inspire new ways of understanding one another.

INTRACOMP – Intercultural and Transcultural Competence Through Collaborative Cultural Expression – explores how creativity can help communities learn, collaborate, and imagine shared futures.

Through three interconnected initiatives — the Capability Training Program, the Community of Practice, and the Practitioner Case Studies — the project builds spaces where learning, reflection, and co-creation happen side by side.

The Capability Training Program, led by ENCC, Nord University, and the University of Verona, offers a hands-on learning journey across four domains: research, competence, practice, and policy. Participants learn by doing, earning digital badges that recognise their growth.

Meanwhile, the Community of Practice connects cultural organisations from Europe and Papua New Guinea for peer learning and exchange, while six case studies highlight how inclusion, collaboration, and creativity flourish in real-life practice.

Together, these stories show how art becomes a language for connection — building communities where everyone belongs.
