Alesha is an Indian researcher born and raised in Aotearoa New Zealand. Her research explores cultural heritage within performative and choreographic practices, drawing on ritualistic methodologies and Indian philosophy to engage with notions of moksha (liberation). Grounded in decoloniality and South Asian feminisms, her work examines ritual as a site of resistance and transformation. Through material engagements and sensorial activations, she explores how intergenerational histories shape embodied knowledge and artistic practice. Her research interests include community dance, artistic practice, and education.
