Fred Dervin is Professor of Multicultural Education at the University of Helsinki, Finland. Prof. Dervin specializes in intercultural communication education, the sociology of multiculturalism, and student and academic mobility. He has widely published in different languages (over 200 articles and 80 books; https://researchportal.helsinki.fi/en/persons/fred-dervin/publications/). His latest books include Communicating around Interculturality in Research and Education (2023), The Routledge Handbook of Critical Interculturality (2024) and Intercultural Self-Defence (2025). Over a career of 25 years, Dervin has made substantial contributions to scholarship on interculturality in both communication and education around the world. Dervin is included in the Stanford Elsevier List of the world’s best scientists for 2024 (Top 2%).
